CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The Pomona-Pitzer Football team heads to La Verne this weekend to play in their final regular season road game of the year as they take on the La Verne Leopards on Saturday, November 5th at 1:00 p.m.
The Sagehens are coming off of their first loss since week one as they fell to Redlands University 23-21 in what was a battle of unbeaten SCIAC teams for sole possession of first place.
Pomona-Pitzer is 5-2 overall and now 4-1 in conference play while the Leopards come into the matchup with a 1-6 overall record and a 1-4 SCIAC record.
Leading the Sagehens this season is sophomore quarterback Edward Sias who is having a breakout year with 231.6 passing yard per game and 12 touchdowns, both of which are third most in the SCIAC.
Junior running back Aseal Birir is second in the conference with 119 yards per game and looks to rush for 100 yards in his seventh-straight game against the Leopards.
Sophomore Ryan McGee jumped to the top of the SCIAC in receiving yards per game after last week as he is currently averaging 99.3 receiving yards per game and has seven touchdowns this season.
The Sagehens defense has been causing fits for offensive coordinators all year long as the defense has 12 interceptions this season so far, which is six more than any other SCIAC team.
The Leopards are led by senior quarterback Zachary Tomlinson who has 599 passing yards this season and four touchdowns.
Dallas Parent is on the verge of a 1,000-yard season as he enters the game with 944 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns this season.
Alex Arellano leads the receiving core this season for La Verne with 627 yards and four touchdowns.
