The Pomona-Pitzer Football team will host Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the 2016 Sixth Street Rivalry on Saturday, November 12th at 1:00 p.m.
This last game of the year marks the Sagehens' Senior Day as Pomona-Pitzer will honor its nine seniors in Alexander Birk, Alex Bresler, Colton Coss, Sean Cremin, Charles Fries, Bulolo Jonga, Conner Martinez, Brian Rauzi and Eric Montgomery.
This contest also marks the last game of 21-year Head Coach Roger Caron's coaching career with the Sagehens as he will retire at the end of the 2016-17 school year.
The Sagehens and Stags meet for the 59th time since the college split in 1956. CMS currently holds the better of the two records as they have won the rivalry series so far at 34-24.
The two rival schools will play on Saturday for sole possession of second place in the SCIAC to end the regular season.
Pomona-Pitzer comes in with a 6-2 overall record and 5-1 in conference play with the only conference loss of the season at home against the SCIAC Champion Redlands Bulldogs by the score of 23-21.
CMS is also 6-2 overall but 4-2 in the SCIAC this season as the Stags fell to Redlands and Cal Lutheran in conference play.
The Sagehens are led by sophomore quarterback Edward Sias who tallied 1,789 yards thus far to go along with 12 touchdowns. Junior running back Aseal Birir looks to crack 1,000 yards for the second time in his collegiate career as he currently sits at 898 yards and seven touchdowns. Sophomore Wide receiver Ryan McGee has had a breakout season up to this point with 705 yards and seven touchdowns on the season.
The Stags are led by quarterback Trey Reynolds who has passed for 1,694 yards this season and 10 touchdowns. Christian Curcio leads the Stags in the backfield with 444 rushing yards and four touchdowns while Trey Smith leads the receiving core with 523 yards and five touchdowns this season.
As part of the halftime festivities, the National Runner-up 5C Rugby team will be doing a 5-7 minute scrimmage as well as a performance from the 5C Dance Team.
