CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Football team will host Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Redlands University on Saturday, October 29th at 7:00 p.m.
The Sagehens come into this week with a 5-1 overall record and a perfect 4-0 in conference play tied with Redlands for first place in the SCIAC. The winner of this game will take over sole possession of first place in the SCIAC with only two games remaining on the schedule.
The first 200 fans to arrive at the stadium on the home stands side under the press box will receive a free Sagehen Athletics Rally Towel courtesy of Pomona-Pitzer Athletics.
Pomona-Pitzer is off to its best start since the 2003 season where they started 5-1. After taking back "The Drum" from Occidental for the first time since 2003, the Sagehens are faced with their biggest task to date as they have not defeated the Bulldogs since 2004.
The Sagehens are led by sophomore quarterback Edward Sias who is third in the SCIAC in passing yards per game at 238.8 and third in touchdown with 10.
Junior running back Aseal Birir is second in the SCIAC in rushing yards per game with 121.5 and third behind freshman quarter back Karter Odermann (8) with seven.
Leading the receiving core this season is sophomore Ryan McGee who is averaging just under 100 yards per game with 92.5, which is third in the conference.
Redlands is 5-1 overall this season and also a perfect 4-0 in conference play.
The Bulldogs are led by quarterback Mitch Kidd who is averaging 98.3 yards per game and has thrown nine touchdowns this season. Alex Andrighetto leads the Bulldogs in the backfield with 80.7 rushing yards per game and six touchdowns on the year and Cole Blackburn leads the receivers with 71.0 yards per game.
