CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Football team returns home to host Whittier College after an impressive 3-0 road trip to start their season 3-1 for the first time since the 2000-2001 season.

The Sagehens opened up their SCIAC schedule with a huge 35-7 road win over Chapman University, which was the first win over the Panthers since they joined the SCIAC. Pomona-Pitzer then made the trip to Thousand Oaks where they took down Cal Lutheran 31-27 for the Sagehens first win over the Kingsmen since 2004.

Pomona-Pitzer is led by sophomore quarterback Edward Sias who has thrown for 994 yards this season with seven touchdowns. Junior running back Aseal Birir has 428 yards on the ground with three touchdowns this season and sophomore Ryan McGee leads the team with 355 yards and four touchdowns.

The Pomona-Pitzer defense has been a focal point this season as the unit has produced a total of 11 turnovers this season with nine of them coming from interceptions. The front seven has been a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks this season as they have tallied nine sacks so far this season. 

Whittier is 0-4 this season and 0-2 in the SCIAC. The Poets fell to the Sagehens 25-13 in last year's game at Whittier.

Whittier is led by quarterback Matthew Valencia who has 501 yards passing this season and three touchdowns. Miguel Redmond leads the Poets with 191 rushing yards and one touchdown and Bryson Sanders leads the team with 253 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The Sagehens will look to stay on top of the SCIAC standings with a home win over the Poets on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
