CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Football team is joining House of Ruth in their Purple Purse Challenge to take a stand against domestic violence.
House of Ruth is a local emergency shelter that provides transitional living for victims of domestic violence and their children. The organization also provides career and education counseling and free legal advocacy.
The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge is a fundraising competition amongst charities that support survivors of doestic violence. The charity that raises the most money will win a $100,000 donation from the Allstate Foundation.

Match-up vs Whittier College
The Pomona-Pitzer football team returns home Saturday evening for a 7 p.m. kick-off against the Whittier College Poets at Merritt Field.
The Sagehens (3-1, 2-0 SCIAC) enter the game on a three-game win streak and are coming off a 31-27 road road victory against the Cal Lutheran Kingsmen. Ryan McGee earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors after hauling in six passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns.
Sophomore quarterback Edward Sias is averaging 248.5 yards per game through the air. Junior running back Aseal Birir is averaging 107 yards on the ground with three touchdowns.
The Poets (0-4, 0-2 SCIAC) are led by quarterback Michael Campbell who threw for 260 yards in a 34-10 loss to Chapman last Saturday.
Last year, the Sagehens defeated the Poets 25-13 behind Birir's 189 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Pomona-Pitzer has won the last three meetings against the Poets.
