Box Score LOS ANGELES, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse team defeated Occidental 24-4 on the road today, extending their win streak to five games with a 5-0 SCIAC record. Caroline Worthington led the way for the Sagehens with five goals and one assist while Sydney Landauer recorded four goals and four assists.
The Sagehens started strong, with Maggie Sweeney scoring the first goal of the game just 36 seconds into the first quarter. The team continued to dominate the first quarter, with Caroline Worthington scoring two goals, one assisted by Ellie Kruse, and the other unassisted. Ellie Kruse also scored a goal, assisted by Sydney Landauer, and Sydney Landauer scored a goal herself, assisted by Shoshi Henderson. The Sagehens added goals from Taylor Glanville, Kruse, and Landauer to cap off nine-straight goals in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Shoshi Henderson scored a goal assisted by Fiona Lewis, making the score 10-0. Occidental managed to score a goal of their own with a free position shot. Pomona-Pitzer quickly responded with two more goals, one by Tess McHugh and another by River Buechner, with the latter coming from a free position shot. Occidental managed to score another goal late in the quarter, but Shoshi Henderson scored to end the quarter with a score of 13-2.
The Tigers managed to score another in the third quarter, but the Sagehens outscored them 6-1 in the 15 minute span with goals from Grace Warner, Maggie Sweeney, Caroline Worthington, and Sydney Landauer. In the final quarter, Pomona-Pitzer continued to add to their lead, with Fiona Lewis scoring an unassisted goal. Occidental managed to score one more goal but Pomona-Pitzer responded with two more goals from Ellie Kruse and Caroline Worthington, both assisted by each other. Tess McHugh and Fiona Lewis each found the net once more down the stretch to put the finishing touches on the Sagehens 24-4 victory over the Tigers.
