CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse team improved to 16-1 on the season, picking up their 10th-straight victory with a 21-16 win over the Colorado College Tigers on Saturday morning. The win is the second of the week over the Tigers for the Sagehens. Fiona Lewis was the standout performer on offense for the Sagehens with six goals while Shoshi Henderson turned in two goals and four assists with Sydney Landauer recording two goals and three assists. 

The Tigers struck first just under a minute into the contest, but the Sagehens fired off four unanswered goals in retaliation with Maggie Sweeney, Fiona Lewis, and Eloise Cherian all finding the back of the net. Colorado cut the lead to 4-2 but Caroline Worthington, Taylor Glanville, and Fiona Lewis all scored once more in the first quarter to put Pomona-Pitzer up 7-2. 

The Sagehens quickly improved their lead to 10-2 in the first five minutes of the second quarter with goals from Sydney Landauer and Fiona Lewis. Colorado outscored the Sagehens 3-1 down the stretch of the second quarter, a run interrupted only by Shoshi Henderson, who scored with just under three minutes left in the half. The Tigers last goal of the half came with 54 seconds remaining in the quarter, sending the Sagehens into halftime leading 12-5. 

Out of the halftime break, the Sagehens dominated the draw control and stormed down to the attacking third on each possession, scoring five unanswered goals with Lewis, Sweeney, Ellie Kruse, and Caroline Worthington all finding the back of the cage to give the Sagehens a 17-5 lead. The Tigers scored the next three to cut the deficit to 17-8 but Pomona-Pitzer saw another goal from Worthington to take an 18-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Colorado surged back into the game, outscoring the Sagehens 8-3 in the quarter to make things interesting but the late comeback attempt fell short as Shoshi Henderson earned the final goal of the game to cap off the 21-16 victory.
