Box Score CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball team improved to 19-14 on the season and 10-6 in the conference with a 4-2 victory over the Occidental Tigers on Friday afternoon. The Sagehens were led by Kylie Liu who went 3-4 at the plate with one run scored. Devin Waddell started in the circle for the Sagehens, going four innings before Emma Holt came in to relieve, finishing the remaining three innings with just one hit and one run allowed. The Sagehens will be back in action tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. when they travel to Occidental for a doubleheader.
The Tigers were the first to get on the board in the third inning after two scoreless innings to start the day. An RBI single down the left field line brought in the Tigers' first run to give them a 1-0 lead. The Sagehens responded in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI sacrifice fly from Amanda Robman that brought in Morgan Groves to even the score at 1-1.
The Sagehens put on a two-out rally in the fifth inning after an error, a single from Kylie Liu, and a walk from Amanda Robman loaded the bases. Devin Waddell worked the count flawlessly to earn an RBI walk before Camille Creighton was hit by a pitch for the ninth time this season, also earning an RBI walk to put the Sagehens up 3-1. The Tigers responded in the sixth with a fielder's choice ball that resulted in a run but an RBI single from Lauren Ziment gave the Sagehens an insurance run that would later be the finishing touches on a 4-2 victory.
