Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team extended its win streak to nine games after their 20-10 win over Colorado College on Thursday night at the South Athletics Complex.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 15-1 overall and 11-0 in SCIAC play.
Fiona Lewis and Sydney Landauer shared a game-high four goals in the win while Gwynn Sullivan, Maggie Sweeney, and Taylor Glanville had two goals and Eloise Cherian, Caroline Welch, Shoshi Henderson, Grace Warner, Ella Bradley, and River Buechner had one.
Lewis and Sweeney got the Sagehens out to a 2-0 lead in the first before Colorado College netted their first goal of the game to keep it close at 2-1. The Sagehens went on to spark a 4-0 run with goals from Landauer, Lewis, and Henderson before the Tigers ended the first quarter with a goal to make it 6-2 Sagehens entering the second.
Pomona-Pitzer opened the second quarter with four in a row after Landauer scored off a power play and Glanville and Landauer alternated goals to put the Sagehens up 10-2 with just under 10 minutes to play before halftime. The Tigers and Sagehens both went on to net three more goals before halftime and after Sweeney, Sullivan and Cherian netted goals, the Sagehens led 13-5 at the break.
The Sagehen defense held the Tigers to just one goal in the third quarter while they continued to add to their lead with four of their own from Lewis, Warner and Sullivan to take a commanding 17-6 lead into the fourth.
Colorado College started the fourth with three goals in a row to get the lead back under 10, but the Sagehens responded with three-straight from Buechner, Welch and Bradley to take a 10-goal win over Colorado College at home.
