Whittier responded in the top of the sixth with an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2 as the two teams entered extra innings to decide the winner.  Whittier reclaimed the lead in the top of the eighth with another solo home run to take a one-run lead.  Pomona-Pitzer got the tying run aboard in the bottom of the eighth but couldn't manufacture enough offense to get it home as they fell in game one 3-2.
