Box Score WHITTIER, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball team dropped a 5-4 battle with the Whittier Poets on Friday evening. The Sagehens scored all four runs first, but the Poets stormed back with five unanswered runs to steal game one away from the Sagehens. Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
After three scoreless innings, the Sagehens got things started in the fourth inning. The Sagehens started the inning with a walk from Kylie Liu before Devin Waddell doubled to right field to put runners on second and third. Addie Wasikonis brought Liu home with an RBI single to center. Wasikonis later stole second with Waddell scoring on the throw to give Pomona-Pitzer a 2-0 lead. The Sagehens added two more runs in the fifth inning after a two-RBI single from Camille Creighton brought in Amanda Robman and Kylie Liu.
The Poets responded in the sixth inning with a two-RBI single and two-RBI home run to tie the game at 4-4 at the end of the sixth. The Sagehens left one runner stranded in the seventh before the Poets hit a walk off single to left field to take game one 5-4 over Pomona-Pitzer.
