Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team secured their 10th SCIAC win of the season with their 21-5 win over Chapman on Saturday night at the South Athletics Complex.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improve to 13-1 overall and stay perfect at 10-0 in conference play.
Four players netted hat-tricks in the win as Maggie Sweeney, Fiona Lewis, and Sydney Landauer shared a game-high with four while Shoshi Henderson scored three along with six assists as she eclipsed 200 points in her young career as a Sagehen. Steffi Larson, Grace Warner, Ella Bradley, Ellie Kruse, Caroline Worthington, and River Buechner also joined the scoresheet with one each.
Pomona-Pitzer started out with a big first quarter against the Panthers with seven-straight goals out of the gate. Landauer, Henderson, and Lewis accounted for the first seven goals of the game while Warner and Sweeney added late goals in the first to take a 9-1 lead into the second quarter.
Buechner started the Sagehens in the second quarter with a goal before the Panthers responded with their second to make it 10-2. The Sagehens came back with three more goals Sweeney and Lewis as the Sagehens led 13-4 at the break.
The Sagehens got back up over 10 goals after Kruse netted a powerplay goal and after back-to-back goals from Sweeney and Landauer, the Sagehens ended the third with a 17-5 advantage.
The defense shut out the Panthers in the fourth quarter while the Sagehens continued to add goals to their total. Worthington and Henderson netted early goals in the fourth to get the lead up to 19-5 while Bradley and Larson ended the night with goals to put the Sagehens over the 20-goal mark for the ninth time this season.
