Box Score CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball team split their doubleheader with the Redlands Bulldogs, dropping game one 7-6 while picking up the 4-2 victory in game two to win the three-game series. With the win, the Sagehens are now 13-10 on the season and hold a 4-2 conference record. Camille Creighton had a stellar day for the Sagehens, recording her first career home run in game one with three hits and four RBIs on the day.
Pomona-Pitzer 6, Redlands 7
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the second inning with two RBI groundouts as well as a Sagehen throwing error. The Sagehens didn't hesitate to respond, scoring on a Bulldogs throwing error in the bottom of the second before Bella Carreon recorded an RBI SAC fly to center to cut the lead to 3-2. Kylie Liu then recorded a two-RBI home run to put the Sagehens on top 4-3. The Bulldogs regained the lead in the fourth inning with an RBI single through the right side followed by a throwing error that brought in three runs, putting Redlands ahead 7-4. Pomona-Pitzer managed to record a hit in both the fifth and sixth inning but left a total of five runners stranded before heading to the seventh inning looking to complete a comeback victory.
Lauren Ziment got the seventh inning started for Pomona-Pitzer with a single. Camille Creighton came up to the plate next as a pinch hitter and delivered a two run homer to left center to cut the deficit to 7-6 with her first career home run. Addie Wasikonis kept the momentum going with a single down the right side but was out on the next play as Morgan Groves reached first on a fielder's choice ball. The Sagehens worked their way to a bases loaded situation with two outs, but a fielder's choice ball ended the game 7-6 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Pomona-Pitzer 4, Redlands 2
Redlands struck first in game two, recorded two runs in the first inning after two Sagehen errors allowed the Bulldogs to score. The Sagehens recorded one hit in the second and one in the third but remained scoreless through the three innings. Pomona-Pitzer earned their first run of the game in the fourth inning with Camille Creighton recording an RBI SAC fly to center to bring in Devin Waddell and cut the Redlands lead to 2-1. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Creighton delivered again, recording an RBI single to bring in Waddell. Claire Sefkow also scored on the play after a Bulldogs error allowed her to make her way home with Creighton advancing to second base. Creighton later scored after another Bulldogs error, putting the Sagehens up 4-2.
Erika Rivera faced four batters in the top of the seventh, forcing two ground outs and one fly out while recording one walk. Rivera pitched a full seven innings for the Sagehens, allowing six hits and two runs with three strikeouts.
