Box Score REDLANDS, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse team continued to perform well against conference opponents as they advanced to 7-0 in the SCIAC with a 19-4 victory over the Redlands Bulldogs on Monday night. The Sagehens were led by Maggie Sweeney and Sydney Landauer as the pair both ended the night with four goals and one assist. Shoshi Henderson dished out four assists while recording two goals of her own. The Sagehens will stay on the road for their next contest when they travel to Occidental on Apr. 8th at 11:00 a.m.
The Sagehens came out strong, scoring their first goal just 11 seconds into the contest with Maggie Sweeney finding the back of the net. The Sagehens continued their offensive assault, scoring two more goals within the next three minutes. Shoshi Henderson scored the second goal for the Sagehens with an assist from Sydney Landauer, and Eloise Cherian found the back of the net with an assist from Shoshi Henderson. The Bulldogs were able to answer back with a goal of their own, but the Sagehens responded quickly, with goals from Sweeney and Grace Warner, taking a 5-1 lead over Redlands. The Bulldogs scored once more in the first, but Sydney Landauer scored two of her own, sending the Sagehens into the second quarter with a 7-2 lead.
The second quarter of the game saw more of the same dominant play from the Pomona-Pitzer team as the Sagehens scored five unanswered goals with multiple players contributing to the offensive effort, pushing the Sagehens lead to 12-2 heading into halftime.
Pomona-Pitzer scored the first three goals of the third quarter off the sticks of Caroline Worthington, Hannah Gough, and Shoshi Henderson, extending the lead to 15-2. The Bulldogs answered to make it 15-3 but the Sagehens dished out four more goals with Sweeney, River Buechner, and Taylor Glanville all finding the net to make it 19-3. The Bulldogs found one more goal down the stretch, but the Sagehens went on to earn the 19-4 road victory.
