Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team punched their ticket to the 2022 SCIAC Tournament Championship with their 21-6 win over Occidental in the SCIAC Semifinals on Wednesday night.
The Sagehens were led by Fiona Lewis and Sydney Landauer who each shared a team-high with five goals in the win. Grace Warner and Eloise Cherian each netted two while Hannah Gough, Maggie Sweeney, Carly Sullivan, Shoshi Henderson, Eleanor Mackey, Ellie Kruse, and Regan Schunk each chipped in with one.
Pomona-Pitzer came out and put the game away early after they scored 11 unanswered goals in the first quarter. Landauer got the Sagehens going with the first two of the night as Gough and Sullivan added one to make it 4-0 within the first four minutes. Landauer, Lewis and Cherian then added four more while Warner Henderson and Cherian again ended the first quarter with the Sagehens up 11-0.
The Tigers broke the score-streak to open the second quarter, but the Sagehens got back on track with four-straight from Sweeney, Warner, Lewis and Landauer before Occidental ended the first half with a goal to make it 15-2 at halftime.
A slow scoring third for both teams that saw just one goal for the Sagehens from Kruse as the Tigers won the quarter with two of their own to make it 16-4 entering the fourth.
The Sagehens opened the fourth quarter with four goals in a row as Lewis, Schunk, and Landauer finished their goals for the night to put the Sagehens up 20-4 and after back-to-back Tiger goals, Mackey found the back of the net to end the night for the Sagehens and send them into the SCIAC Tournament Final.
