How It Happened

The first three innings were quiet for both teams with Chapman recording the only hit in that stretch with one in the bottom of the third inning. Pomona-Pitzer kept things going in the fifth inning with a two-RBI double to right center from Katy Hurley that brought in Taylor Lehner and Lauren Ziment.

Ziment hit an RBI double of her own in the top of the sixth inning to bring home Bella Carreon before Devin Waddell did the same to bring Ziment home, giving the Sagehens an 8-0 lead. The Panthers fought off mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-1.
