Box Score ORANGE, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball extended their win streak to four-straight games with a 11-1 road victory over the Chapman Panthers. The Sagehens recorded 13 hits overall and were perfect in the field. Erika Rivera pitched the full seven innings for the Sagehens, striking out eight batters on the day while holding the Panthers to four hits. Five different Sagehens recorded two hits on the day while three others earned one hit. The Sagehens hit 12-20 (.600) when they had runners in scoring position and hit 10-17 (.588) with two outs. Pomona-Pitzer will host Chapman tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to complete the series.
How It Happened
The first three innings were quiet for both teams with Chapman recording the only hit in that stretch with one in the bottom of the third inning. The Sagehens got things started in the top of the fourth inning with four hits as Hannah Brajkovich hit an RBI double, Julia Carreon hit a two-RBI single, and Deijah Bradley hit a two-RBI double to put the Sagehens up 4-0. Pomona-Pitzer kept things going in the fifth inning with a two-RBI double to right center from Katy Hurley that brought in Taylor Lehner and Lauren Ziment.
Ziment hit an RBI double of her own in the top of the sixth inning to bring home Bella Carreon before Devin Waddell did the same to bring Ziment home, giving the Sagehens an 8-0 lead. The Panthers fought off mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-1. Pomona-Pitzer picked up where they left off in the top of the seventh with Bradley, Ziment, and Megan Otsuka all hitting RBI-doubles to left field to make it 11-1 in favor of the Sagehens.
