Box Score ORANGE, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse team completed their regular season with a perfect 15-0 record after defeating Chapman 17-3 on the road on Wednesday night. With the win, the Sagehens have now won 22-straight games, dating back to Feb. 15, 2020, when the streak started. Pomona-Pitzer was led by Maggie Sweeney on the attack with Sweeney netting six goals and dishing out one assist while Shoshi Henderson recorded two goals and five assists. With the five assists, Henderson now has 78 assists on the season, tying her for tenth all-time in NCAA Division III history with just ten assists left to tie the NCAA record of 88 assists in a season. The Sagehens will be back in action on May 4th when they host the SCIAC Semifinal as the No. 1 seed at a time to be determined.
How It Happened
Like much of the season, the Sagehens charged past the Panthers in the first quarter with five goals to start the game. Maggie Sweeney scored four of the Sagehens five goals in the opening quarter with Shoshi Henderson assisting on three of the four. Ellie Kruse scored the second goal of the game with Caroline Worthington assisting on the play, which was then followed by Sweeney's flurry of goals, with all three goals being scored in just one minute and 15 seconds as the Sagehens ended the first period with a 5-1 lead.
The Sagehens extended their lead to 10-2 in the second quarter as Sweeney, Henderson, Regan Schunk, and Kate Immergluck peppered the Chapman goal throughout the quarter with Schunk recording two goals in the period. The Sagehens continued to add to their lead in the third with Henderson, Sweeney, Eloise Cherian, Tess McHugh and Worthington all finding the net to make it 15-3. Cherian and Claire LeBlanc closed out the contest for the Sagehens in the fourth quarter as the duo scored the last two goals of the game to cap off the regular season with a 17-3 victory over Chapman.
