Game One – Pomona-Pitzer 4, Occidental 2

The Sagehens got to work quickly, sitting down the first three Occidental batters before scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning after a Tigers fielding error brought Megan Otsuka home.

Occidental battled back in the fifth inning with a two RBI single up the middle to take a 2-1 lead over the Sagehens. Pomona-Pitzer answered immediately as Otsuka hit an RBI double up the middle to bring in Deijah Bradley and make it 2-2. Lauren Ziment grounded out to short stop on the next play, but the Sagehens were able to score on the play and regain the lead at 3-2. In the bottom of the sixth, Taylor Lehner hit a solo homerun over the left field wall to boost the Sagehens lead to 4-2. The Tigers went down in order in the top of seventh as the Sagehens earned the 4-2 victory in game one.

Game Two - Occidental 8, Pomona-Pitzer 7

The Sagehens trailed early in the second game after an error allowed two runs to score before a three run homerun put the Tigers up 5-0 in the first inning. Pomona-Pitzer answered with two runs in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double from Devin Waddell and an RBI single from Hannah Brajkovich, cutting the lead to 5-2. The Tigers came right back with an RBI single in the top of the second to push the lead to 6-2. Waddell responded in the bottom of the second with an RBI single to make it 6-3 heading into the third inning.

Occidental continued to increase their lead in the third inning, recording another RBI single before a Sagehen error cost Pomona-Pitzer an additional run, putting the Tigers lead at 8-3. The Sagehens put up a big fourth inning with a sacrifice fly from Taylor Lehner before a Julia Carreon double to right field brought in two more runs, cutting the Occidental lead to 8-6.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Sagehens saw Hannah Brajkovich and Julia Carreon both hit singles to put two runners on with no outs. Amanda Robman popped up for the first out of the inning before Deijah Bradley ripped a single through the right side that brought in Brajkovich, cutting the deficit to 8-7. Unfortunately for the Sagehens, Morgan Groves and Megan Otsuka both struck out swinging, stranding Carreon and Bradley as the Tigers edged past Pomona-Pitzer in a tight 8-7 battle.
