Box Score LOS ANGELES, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball team defeated the Occidental Tigers 10-0 in five innings on the road. The Sagehens were led by Devin Waddell, Taylor Lehner, and Deijah Bradley at the plate as the trio all ended the game with two hits with Lehner recording three RBIs and Bradley recording four RBIs. Erika Rivera pitched all five innings, allowing just two hits and recorded six strikeouts. The Sagehens will host the Tigers tomorrow at 12pm and 2pm to complete the series.
How It Happened
The contest featured a fast start as Megan Otsuka single to right and stole second to start the game. Lauren Ziment was hit by a pitch which brought Devin Waddell up to bat. Waddell hit a single to left that loaded the bases for Taylor Lehner. Lehner delivered a single to center field that brought in both Ziment and Otsuka, putting the Sagehens up 2-0. Lehner then stole second before Hannah Brajkovich walked. Julia Carreon reached on fielder's choice as the Tigers got Waddell out at home, but Erika Hurtado was hit by the pitch with bases loaded, increasing the lead to 3-0. Right after that, Deijah Bradley hit a three-RBI double down the right field line to put the Sagehens on top 6-0 in just the first inning.
The Sagehens left two runners on in the second and one on in the third but got right back to work in the fourth inning. Taylor Lehner hit an RBI double to left field and Hannah Brajkovich hit an RBI single to bring in Lehner, giving the Sagehens an 8-0 lead. Deijah Bradley singled to center to bring in another run before Amanda Robman hit an RBI ground out to second that made it 10-0.
The Tigers went down in order in the fourth inning and fifth inning as the Sagehens earned the 10-0 five inning victory.
