How It Happened
The Sagehens wasted no time in this SCIAC bout as Caroline Worthington scored just 14 seconds after the opening whistle after Maggie Sweeney won the first draw control of the game. From there, the Sagehens scored an additional 10 goals in the first period to take an early 11-0 lead over Cal Lutheran. Claire LeBlanc scored the second goal of the game before Worthington found the net twice more to earn an early hat trick. Carly Sullivan, Eloise Cherian, and Eleanor Mackey all scored as well for the Sagehens in the first period with Cherian earning a hat trick and Mackey earning her first goal of the season.
In the second quarter, the Sagehens continued to attack as Steffi Larson, Regan Schunk, Asaka Mori, Shoshi Henderson, Maggie Sweeney, and Emily Vomvas all scored to make it 17-0 at the halftime break. Vomvas' goal is her first of the season as the senior normally spends her time in goal but switched to a field player after the first quarter. Henderson ended the first half with nine assists, helping on over half of the first half goals for Pomona-Pitzer.
The Sagehens dialed things back in the second half with four goals in the third and two goals in the fourth to secure the 23-0 victory over the Regals. Worthington started out the third quarter with her fifth goal of the night before Caroline Welch, Hannah Gough, and Jasmine Randall all struck the nylon to put the Sagehens up 21-0. Randall was the second goalkeeper in this game to score as a field player with Vomvas having scored earlier in the match. Gough and Randall were the two scorers in the fourth period as Pomona-Pitzer soared to their 23-0 win on Wednesday night.
