No. 25 Sagehens Cruise Past Whittier For Road Win

WHITTIER, CA. – The No. 25 Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team kept their undefeated season alive with their 24-6 win over SCIAC opponent Whittier on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 12-0 overall and 9-0 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens were led by Shoshi Henderson who tallied 10 points with four goals and six assists on the day. Fiona Lewis also had four goals while Hannah Gough also notched a hat-trick with three goals in the win. Sarah Casey Regan Schunk and Eloise Cherian netted two each while Maggie Sweeney, Claire LeBlanc, Steffi Larson, Asaka Mori, Carly Sullivan, Tess McHugh, and Ellie Kruse had one.

The Sagehens dominated Whittier in the first quarter as they rattled off 12-straight goals and held the Poets scoreless in the first. Larson got the scoring going for the Sagehens followed by goals from Henderson, LeBlanc, Cherian and two from Lewis to go up 6-0 within the first five minutes of the game.  Sullivan, Sweeney and Gough added three more within the next five minutes and Lewis and Casey netted goals to end the first up 12-0.

Pomona-Pitzer opened the second with a goal from Casey before Whittier netted their first goal of the day to make it 13-1. The Sagehens proceeded to score the next three goals from Henderson, Gough and Cherian before the Poets scored their second, while McHugh ended the first half with a goal to make it 17-2 at the half.

Only three goals netted for both teams combined in the third. The Poets opened up the second half with a goal while Henderson netted the only two goals of the quarter for the Sagehens to make it 19-3 heading into the fourth.

Schunk got on the scoresheet to begin the fourth as Whittier answered with another goal to push the score to 20-4. The Sagehens went on to net three-straight goals from Mori, Schunk, and Kruse while Gough finished the night with a goal for the Sagehens as they cruised to their 12th straight win of the season.
