Box Score REDLANDS, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse team continued their dominance in the 2022 season with a 22-5 victory over the Redlands Bulldogs on the road. Fiona Lewis was the standout attacker for the Sagehens with seven goals and two assists while Tess McHugh chipped in with three goals on three shots. Five other Sagehens tallied two goals on the night to contribute to the Sagehens 11th-straight victory. Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Apr. 16 when they travel to Whittier at 11:00 a.m.
How It Happened
The Sagehens attacked from the opening whistle with seven unanswered goals in the opening period. Claire LeBlanc scored first with a free position shot before Fiona Lewis and Caroline Worthington both capitalized on their free position attempts to make it 3-0. With 5:04 left in the first, the Sagehens struck the net four more times as Lewis, Tess McHugh, and Shoshi Henderson all scored to give Pomona-Pitzer a 7-0 lead going into the second quarter of play.
Lewis and McHugh both scored in man down situations to start the second period before Maggie Sweeney scored to make it a 10-0 game with 11:48 left in the second quarter. The Bulldogs were able to score three goals in the second period, but the Sagehens had an answer for each one with Lewis, McHugh, and Sweeney all striking the net to make it 13-3 heading into halftime.
The third quarter saw three goals from the Sagehens with Regan Schunk, Lewis, and LeBlanc all finding the net to boost the Sagehens lead to 16-5. In the last quarter of play, Emma Clark, Carly Sullivan, and Caroline Worthington all scored on free position shots to push the lead to 19-5. Lewis, Clark, and Henderson closed out the game, each scoring one more goal to cap off the 22-5 victory on the road against the Bulldogs.
