Box Score 2 COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball team dropped a 5-1 game against Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday morning. Megan Otsuka led the team with two hits in three at bats.
Game One – Va. Wesleyan 5, Pomona-Pitzer 1
The Marlins got off to a quick start after hitting a two-RBI double, and two-RBI singles in the top of the first to take a 4-0 lead. The Marlins struck once more in the second inning with a sacrifice fly to make it 5-0.
The Sagehens were able to score one in the bottom of the sixth inning after a Marlin error brought in Megan Otsuka but Pomona-Pitzer couldn't make a late comeback in the seventh, falling to Virginia Wesleyan 5-1.
Game Two – Berry 5, Pomona-Pitzer 4
The Sagehens put two runs up early after a Katy Hurley RBI single and a Hannah Brajkovich RBI single to left field quickly made it 2-0 in the top of the first. The Sagehens struck again in the third inning with an RBI groundout from Hurley that brought in Otsuka. Pomona-Pitzer added one more run in the fourth inning, this time with an RBI single from Morgan Groves to bring in Adalee Wasikonis and give the Sagehens the 4-0 lead.
Berry answered with one run in the bottom of the fourth and a two-RBI double in the fifth, pulling within one at 4-3. In their final opportunity, the Vikings benefited from a Sagehen error that brought in a run to tie things at 4-4. Berry ended the game with an RBI single to earn the 5-4 comeback victory over Pomona-Pitzer.
