Bulldogs No Match as Sagehens Soar on Saturday Night

Box Score

CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse team advanced to 2-0 on the season after a dominate 21-6 win over the Redlands Bulldogs. The Sagehens outscored Redlands 11-2 in the first quarter and never looked back. Shoshi Henderson led the team with three goals and one assist with Grace Warner also recording a hat trick. Sydney Landauer netted two goals while dishing out three assists. The Sagehens will be back in action on March 2 when they host Whittier at 7:00 p.m.

How It Happened

Pomona-Pitzer found the back of the net twice in the opening minute of play, seeing a goal from Fiona Lewis 35 seconds into the game and a goal from Shoshi Henderson just 20 seconds later. The Sagehens tallied five more goals before Redlands could record one of their own with Grace Warner, Caroline Worthington, Lewis, and Henderson each chiming in on attack.

Redlands was able to find two goals in the first quarter, but Sydney Landauer, Hannah Gough, and Regan Schunk kept the attack going with Landauer finding the net twice while Gough and Schunk both scored once, giving Pomona-Pitzer an 11-2 lead after a quarter of play.

The Sagehens slowed things down in the remaining quarters of the game but continued to attack. In the second quarter, Caroline Worthington, Carly Sullivan, Jessalyn Simon-Parker, and Grace Warner each struck the net to make it 15-3 heading into halftime.

The Sagehens added another four goals in the third quarter, this time from Steffi Larson, Grace Jackson, Sarah Casey, and Shoshi Henderson. Henderson's goal was arguably the most impressive of the night as Sydney Landauer came in with a behind the back feed that was followed by a behind the back goal from Henderson to earn her hat trick.

In the fourth quarter, the Sagehens tacked on two more goals as Schunk and Asaki Mori increased the lead once more to give the Sagehens a 21-6 victory over Redlands.
