Box Score CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball team fell to the La Verne Leopards on Friday afternoon. The Leopards struck first but Pomona-Pitzer answered with four runs in the second inning before eventually falling 8-4 to La Verne. The Sagehens recorded five hits on the day while the Leopards got 10 of their own. Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to finish the series against the Leopards.
How It Happened
As mentioned, the Leoaprds struck first in the first inning, recording an RBI sacrifice fly to bring in a run. They did the same in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead but the Sagehens responded in the bottom of the second. Lauren Ziment reached first on an error by the short stop. The throwing error caused two runners to score before Hannah Brajkovic singled up the middle to bring in two more runs and give the Sagehens a 4-2 lead.
In the fifth inning, the Leopards tied the game with a two-RBI single to left. In the seventh inning, the Leopards hit a two-RBI homer along with an RBI single and an RBI walk to take the 8-4 lead and eventual win over the Sagehens.
