Box Score CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer softball team fell to the Redlands Bulldogs 8-3 at home to start SCIAC play. Taylor Lehner and Devin Waddell both had two hits on the day to lead the team. The Sagehens will be back in action tomorrow with a road doubleheader against Redlands at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
In the Results
The first two innings were scoreless but the Sagehens struck first, recording three runs in the bottom of the third. Devin Waddell ripped an RBI double to center to bring in the Sagehens first run. Katy Hurley then hit into a fielder's choice that resulted in two runs scored after a wild throw brought in Waddell and Amanda Robman to give the Sagehens a 3-0 lead.
The Bulldogs quickly answered back with two RBI singles and a fielder's choice ball that gave them the 4-2 lead. The Bulldogs added three more runs in the sixth innings with back-to-back RBI double's before adding in one more run in the seventh to earn the 8-3 victory. The Sagehens left a runner on base in both the sixth and seventh inning as they fell to the Bulldogs.
