Box Score CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer volleyball team earned their fourth-straight home sweep with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-8) victory over the Redlands Bulldogs. Chloe Gill led the team with 10 kills while Paige Wilson picked up 15 digs and recorded eight kills. Eleanor Nicholson and Kylie Mies both dished out 11 assists. The Sagehens are now 14-6 (9-3 in SCIAC) and will travel to Cal Lutheran on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7:00 p.m.
The Bulldogs started the night with a service error, giving the Sagehens the early upper hand but Redlands quickly regrouped to take a 6-5 edge over the Sagehens. A Paige Wilson kill put the Sagehens up 7-6 but the two teams kept things close as they worked to an 11-11 tie over the next few minutes. From there, the Sagehens got a kill from Chloe Gill that sparked a torrent 14-4 run with Kellan Hayes, Cameron Hodges, and Gill recording kills to take set one 25-15.
The Sagehens started set two on a 5-2 run with kills from Ella Gardner and Laurel Park, but the Bulldogs rallied to take their second 6-5 lead of the day. The Bulldogs continued to hold a slight edge as they made their way to a 10-8 lead, but the Sagehens scored six unanswered points to take a 14-10 lead. Redlands refused to go down without a fight in set two, answering with a 6-3 run to cut the lead to 17-16. The Sagehens used kills from Paige Wilson, Chloe Gill, and Ella Gardner to force a Redlands timeout with the 21-16. Out of the break, Redlands took the next three points, but the Sagehens ended the set on a 4-1 run with a Natalie Potter kill and two Chloe Gill kills, winning the set 25-20.
Pomona-Pitzer set the tone early with a block from Ella Gardner and Laurel Park before they made a massive surge to a 15-7 lead to force a Redlands timeout. The run saw kills from Paige Wilson, Laurel Park, Ella Gardner, Tene Ariyo, Cameron Hodges, and Natalie Potter. The timeout was ineffective for Redlands as the Sagehens stormed to the finish line with a 10-1 run that saw kills from Savanna Cespedes, Hodges, and Potter to win the third set 25-8 and earn their fourth-straight sweep.
