Box Score CLAREMONT, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer volleyball team defeated Occidental 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-23), extending their win streak to six games and their sweep streak to three games. On the night, the Sagehens swung at a .161 clip with Chloe Gill leading the attack with 13 kills. Lauren Asato anchored the defense with 17 digs while dishing out four assists and earning a kill for the first time this season. Adrienne Tong commanded the attack with 16 assists while Adrienne Tong dished out 12 of her own. Overall, the Sagehens earned 10 total blocks with Naomi Chen-Mallouk earning two solos and one assist while Grace Fan recorded one solo and three assists. With tonight's win, the Sagehens are now 16-8 overall and 12-2 in the conference with a Sixth Street Rivalry up next at CMS on Friday, Oct. 29th at 7:00 p.m.
How It Happened
Set one saw the Sagehens storm their way to an 11-4 lead, starting the match with a service ace from Paige Wilson before picking up kills from Wilson, Chloe Gill, and Grace Fan along with a Kellan Hayes service ace. The run came to an end as the Tigers picked up two points, but the Sagehens continued to charge forward, this time going on a 11-3 run to take a 22-9 lead. The run got started after libero Lauren Asato earned her first kill of the season on a wild play with a phenomenal dig that turned into a point for the Sagehens as it went over the net landed in on the Tigers side. The Tigers went on a 5-0 to try to get back into the set but Kellan Hayes and Paige Wilson took this one to the end with heavy swings to give Pomona-Pitzer the 25-14 set one win.
The two teams had a much closer start in set two, working to a tie five times but once the score hit 6-6 the Sagehens took off. Pomona-Pitzer went on a 6-1 run to take. 12-7 lead before extending their lead to 24-13 with a 12-6 run, picking up kills from Chloe Gill, Chloe Kerstein, and Paige Wilson. The Tigers were able to record four more points in the set, but an untimely service error gave Pomona-Pitzer the 25-16 set two win.
The Sagehens started set three with a 5-2 run with Grace Fan, Chloe Gill, and Alexis Rudy all picking up kills, but the Tigers fought back, tying the game at 7-7. Pomona-Pitzer quickly regained the lead with a kill from Fan, but it was Occidental who kept momentum as they worked their way to a 13-11 lead, forcing a Sagehen timeout. The Sagehens regained the lead at 16-14 with a 5-1 run out of the break but the Tigers put the pressure on, fighting back again to tie the contest at 21-21, forcing another Sagehen timeout. Out of the break, the Tigers picked up two more points to take a 23-21 lead but four-straight points, including back-to-back service aces from Grace Fan, ended the set 25-23 to give the Sagehens the 3-0 victory over the Tigers.

The Sagehens will be back in action on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. with a Sixth Street Rivalry at CMS who enters the contest coming off a narrow 3-2 victory over Chapman, their first five-set match with any SCIAC team this season.
