Box Score CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Softball team fell in game one of their three-game series to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Redlands 5-2 on Friday afternoon at Wig Beach Field. With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
The Sagehens scattered six hits in the game while sophomore Taylor Lehner went 1-1 with a home run and three walks on the day. Sophomore Hannah Brajkovich got the only other RBI for the Sagehens with a 1-2 performance as well as hits from senior Izzy Deatherage, sophomore Katy Hurley, junior Karina Falkstrom, and junior Makensey Druckman.
Redlands started off the game with a run in their first at-bats to take an early 1-0 lead but the Sagehens answered back with their first batter of the game as Lehner blasted a solo shot to left field for her third home run of the season to even the score at 1-1.
Redlands had a big inning in the top of the third as they plated five runs to jump out to a 5-1 lead. The Sagehens responded with one run in the bottom of the third as Brajkovich singled home Hurley but Redlands got out of the jam maintained their 5-2 lead.
The Sagehens' bats cooled off late in the game and no mistakes on the Redlands defense allowed the Bulldogs to come away with a win in game one
The Sagehens will finish their series at Redlands tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. with a double header.
