Pomona-Pitzer got the scoring going in the 13th minute after a free kick by sophomore Emily Tomz landed inside the box and after a scramble, VarnBuhler was able to get a solid shot off past the keeper to give the Sagehens a 1-0 lead.
Pomona-Pitzer doubled up its lead just six minutes later after senior Brianna Lau played a hard diagonal through ball that cut through the Whittier back line and found the feet of Gane who settled and slotted a ball past the keeper to extend the lead to 2-0.
The final goal of the day also came in the first half after sophomore Brooke Bordonaro spotted a darting Mandell towards the box and played a swinging cross in that Mandell played first time with her head into the lower right corner of the goal to give the Sagehens a 3-0 lead.
