CLAREMONT, CA. – The Sagehens opened up the 2026 season with a dominant 4-0 shutout victory over Redlands on Tuesday afternoon at home.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens start the season 1-0-0.
The Sagehens controlled the game early, creating several chances in the first half. Sabina Peterson Rajalingam recorded three shots between the 26' and 32' minutes, while Ally Hsieh added two shots on goal. Ava Watanabe also tested the Redlands goalkeeper in the 36' minute. The breakthrough came in the 43' minute when Emi Skerritt found the back of the net for the first goal of the year to give the Sagehens a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Sagehens continued to build the lead in the second half. Lucia Page Sander opened the scoring after halftime with a goal in the 50' minute, putting Pomona-Pitzer up 2-0. Just five minutes later, Imogen Roy Jenkyn added another goal in the 56' minute to extend the lead to 3-0. Page Sander struck again in the 61' minute, giving the Sagehens a commanding 4-0 advantage.
Defensively, Patricia DePalma helped secure the shutout with saves in the 9' and 49' minutes, while the Sagehens limited Redlands to just a handful of chances throughout the match. The Sagehens held firm through the final minutes to complete the 4-0 victory.
