12/13/2025 9:00:00 AM

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer Head Coach Jennifer Scanlon has announced she will retire from coaching and take a sabbatical leave beginning in the spring semester of this academic year. Miranda Armstrong will take over as Acting Head Coach and Visiting Assistant Professor of Physical Education.

"Miranda is a natural choice to hand the program off to at this time," Scanlon said. "She has been an integral part of Pomona-Pitzer soccer for the last three years in every facet of coaching, player support, administration and recruiting. Her experience across club, high school, WPSL, ODP and college teams is impressive. That wealth of knowledge was impactful on my coaching during our time working together and contributed to multiple championships and NCAA Tournament runs. I am so excited for her to have this opportunity to lead the program into its next chapter."

Scanlon has been with the Pomona-Pitzer women's soccer program since the fall of 2003 and has accumulated 225 wins with the Sagehens. She is a five-time SCIAC Coach of the Year and has led Pomona-Pitzer to nine regular season conference titles, five SCIAC Tournament Championships and nine NCAA Tournament appearances.

Prior to joining the Sagehens, Scanlon served as Head Coach at Kenyon College from 2000-2003, Graduate Assistant Coach at the University of New Hampshire from 1998-1999, and Assistant Coach at Macalester College from 1995-1997. She graduated from Macalester College in 1995 with a degree in history before earning her M.S. in kinesiology from New Hampshire.

The Sagehens enjoyed one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2025, reaching the Round of Eight in the NCAA Tournament and going 16-2-4 overall. Vivian Rojas Collins, Hannah Hong and Hadley Johnson were each named 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-Americans following the season.
