CLAREMONT, Calif. — Miranda Armstrong will lead the Pomona-Pitzer women's soccer program as Acting Head Coach and Visiting Assistant Professor of Physical Education, with Head Coach Jennifer Scanlon recently announcing her coaching retirement and sabbatical leave.

Armstrong has been with the Sagehen program since 2023 and is eager to help maintain the high level of success Pomona-Pitzer women's soccer has enjoyed in recent years. She has experience coaching at all levels of soccer including stints with Division I teams Washington and Florida State, the WPSL, Lakeside School and youth soccer club Seattle United.

"My overall vision is to continue with our program's current model, as we have had a consistent trajectory and found success," Armstrong said. "There will be a few tweaks and touches here and there to align with my vast experiences and successes."

Working alongside Scanlon since 2023, Armstrong has seen firsthand the dedication required to consistently compete on a national level. She aims to apply effective leadership qualities that countless student-athletes have come to appreciate from Scanlon and her staff.

"Coach Jen has the powerful communication trio down: compassion, consistency and clarity," Armstrong noted. "What I hope to carry forward is her ability to be intentionally inclusive in all aspects of the program and the pathway on how to be a strong leader while providing the players some autonomy on the decision-making process for their experience."

"I love both Pomona and Pitzer, the idea of the consortium and the student-athletes we get to work with," Armstrong added. "It is a special place that I am blessed to be a part of and am excited to continue my growth here as a leader."
