Box Score ORANGE, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's lacrosse team fell to Chapman 9-8 late in the second half on Wednesday night at Wilson Field.
The Sagehens fell to the Panthers at home earlier in the year by the score of 13-11 with the go-ahead goal also in the final minute of the game.
Pomona-Pitzer was led by senior Aubrey Douglass who tallied three goals for her seventh hat-trick of the year and fourth one in a row. Senior Ally McLaughlin and freshman Lilly Thomey chipped in two each in the loss.
The Sagehens had their offense working in the first half as they jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead as McLaughlin, Thomey and Douglass all found their first goals of the game.
The Panthers scored their first goal of the game to cut the lead to 3-1 but sophomore Sallie Marx scored an unassisted goal to put the Sagehens up 4-1 with 17:51 remaining in the first half.
Chapman responded with three-straight goals to tie to tie the game at 4-4 before McLaughlin scored her second goal of the game for the Sagehens off of a pass from Douglass to reclaim the lead at 5-4.
The Panthers would tie the game at 5-5 but Thomey would score the last goal of the half as the Sagehens went into halftime with a slight 6-5 lead.
Pomona-Pitzer struggled to find the back of the net in the second half as they were held to just two goals.
The Sagehens started the half with two of the first three goals scored by Douglass to take an 8-6 lead but The Panthers responded with three unanswered goals to end the game with the go-ahead goal scored with just 31 seconds left by Tessa Oliaro as Chapman took both games from the Sagehens in the regular season.
The Sagehens end their regular season at Whittier on Saturday, April 23rd at 4:00 p.m.
