Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's lacrosse team defeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Redlands 13-6 on their senior day on Saturday afternoon at the South Athletics Complex.
The Sagehens were led by senior Ally McLaughlin who tallied four goals on the day for her fourth hat-trick of the year. Senior Aubrey Douglass completed her sixth hat-trick of the year and third one in a row as she scored three goals in the win.
The first half did not see much action as both defenses took control of the game. The Sagehens got on the board first as McLaughlin scored her first goal of the day off of a pass from Douglass.
Redlands responded with their only goal of the half as Ellen Holt found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to score three-straight goals to end the half as junior Rebecca Long scored her first goal of the game and Douglass ended the half on back-to-back goals to give the Sagehens a 4-1 lead at the break.
The second half saw much more action than the first did as Redlands came out of the half and scored a goal with a man down as Hanna Morford scored off of a pass form Stephanie Garrett.
The Sagehens responded with a goal just 30 seconds later with a man up as senior Sarah Markowitz put one passed the goal keeper to give the Sagehens a 5-2 lead. McLaughlin followed that up with a goal of her own to extend the lead to 6-2 with 26:06 to go.
Redlands came back to score on a free position shot by Sam Keary but the Sagehens went on to score five of the next six goals of the game as Douglass, Long, Markowitz and two goals by McLaughlin made the score 11-4 in favor of Pomona-Pitzer.
The Bulldogs ended the scoring streak as Hayley Donnelly snuck one pasted sophomore goal keeper Mckenzie Scott but sophomore Sallie Marx and freshman Hannah Chiu tacked on two more goals to the Sagehens' total as they won their final regular season home game of the year.
The Sagehens next take the field as they travel to SCIAC opponent Chapman for a first and second place SCIAC match on Wednesday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m.
