Colorado Springs, Colo. - Sophomore Hannah Christenson (pictured) had a career-high six goals and junior Sarah Markowitz added four as the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team built an 11-5 lead and hung on for a 15-11 win over Colorado College on Sunday afternoon. 

With the win, Pomona-Pitzer improves to 6-3 on the season, while Colorado College falls to 4-6 with the loss. 

The Sagehens fell victim to two late comebacks to start their Spring Break trip to Colorado Springs, falling in sudden death overtime to Wesleyan 12-11 on Thursday and then dropping an 11-10 decision to Skidmore on Friday. This time, though, Pomona-Pitzer stood resolute as the Tigers trimmed the 11-5 lead down to 12-10 with 7:29 left. 

Sophomore Rebecca Long came up with a big goal to stop the momentum and put the Sagehens back in front 13-10 with 6:09 left. Colorado College scored 37 seconds later on a man-up goal to trim the lead to two once again, but Markowitz broke up the middle and scored with 3:45 left and Christenson salted the game away with her sixth in the final minute.

Pomona-Pitzer led 9-4 at the half, and early second half goals from Christenson and freshman Sallie Marx pushed the lead to 11-5. Markowitz broke a 3-0 Colorado College run with 9:26 left to make the score 12-8, and the Tigers got goals from Mary Taussig and Iris Rayburn 14 seconds apart to pull within two, but could come no closer.

Long finished with two goals and two assists for the Sagehens, while junior Aubrey Douglass had a goal and three assists. Sophomore goalie Gaby Fukumura had 13 saves to get the win in goal. Taussig had three goals and two assists to lead Colorado College.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action on Tuesday when it returns home to face Buffalo State for a 7 p.m. contest.
