Box Score Claremont, Calif. - Sarah Markowitz (pictured) and Jana London each had five goals to lead the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team to a 16-8 win over DePauw in a non-league contest on Monday evening.
With the win, the Sagehens improve to 8-3 on the season, while DePauw slips to 1-2 in the early stages of its campaign.
Markowitz had two goals and an assist in the first 4:30 of the game to help stake Pomona-Pitzer to a 3-0 lead, exchanging assists with Aubrey Douglass on each other's goals and then making a one-on-one move to push the lead to 3-0.
After DePauw closed to within 3-2, Hannah Christenson scored on a free position shot, and then London scored four of her goals in a span of just 3:45 (two of which were 12 seconds apart) to make the score 8-3 with 10:12 left in the half.
Markowitz had two goals in a half-ending 3-0 run, sandwiched around a goal from Ally McLaughlin, to give the Sagehens a 12-4 lead at the break, and McLaughlin started the second half with two goals sandwiched around a London tally to push the lead to 15-4.
McLaughlin finished with three goals, Christenson ended with two, and Douglass had a goal and three assists for the Sagehens. Elizabeth McCracken had two goals and two assists to lead the way for DePauw.
Pomona-Pitzer is back in action on Wednesday night, when it takes on Carthage for a 7 p.m. contest.
