Box Score Los Angeles, Calif. - Emlyn Foxen tied the game with 36 seconds left in regulation, but the Occidental Women's Lacrosse team tallied the only goal of overtime to capture an 8-7 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.
The win improves Occidental to 3-0 overall (all SCIAC games), while Pomona-Pitzer slips to 2-1 after opening up with wins over Whittier and CMS in its first two games.
The Sagehens led 6-5 with 23:37 after a goal from sophomore Ally McLaughlin, but did not score again until Foxen's late goal off a free position shot. Beebe Finch tied the game with 14:14 left off a feed from Rebecca Reese, and Reese then scored on a free position with 2:11 left to give the Tigers a 7-6 lead.
Foxen's goal after an Occidental foul forced the extra session, but Mackenzie Wright was able to find the net with 43 seconds left in the extra session to provide the margin of victory.
McLaughlin led the way for the Sagehens with two goals and an assist, while senior Jana London and freshman Hannah Christenson each had two goals. Freshman Gaby Fukumura had 13 saves in a solid effort in net, including eight in the first half, to keep the Sagehens in it.
Pomona-Pitzer returns to action on Wednesday for a road game at Chapman, beginning at 7 p.m.
