However, Willamette closed out the match on a 4-0 run, with Carly Hargrave breaking a 14-14 tie after two Sagehen errors to give the Bearcats a match point. Hargrave and Kirsten Brehmer then combined on the match-clinching block for a 16-14 win in the fifth game.

She found support in the second match, though, as sophomore Michelle Schultz had a strong day of her own, finishing with 14 kills and tying Frappier for match-high honors with 22 digs. The Sagehens used multiple setters as well, with junior Ellen Yamasaki tallying 45 in two matches, junior Dani Kritter adding 28, and freshman Elizabeth Sun adding 20.
