Claremont, Calif. – Senior Perri Hopkins (Agoura, Calif. - pictured) broke a 7-7 tie in the first overtime as the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team remained undefeated in the SCIAC with a 9-7 overtime win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday morning at Haldeman Pool.

With the win, the Sagehens, ranked No. 1 in Division III, improve to 16-16 overall and 5-0 in the SCIAC, with three of the five wins coming in overtime (Occidental, La Verne and Cal Lutheran). Kelsey Bergemann also helped key the comeback with back-to-back fourth quarter goals to pull the Regals within 7-6 with 1:18 to play.

However, Hopkins scored her second goal of the game to end the drought with 2:29 to go in the first overtime, and freshman Chrissie Alving-Trinh (Fresno, Calif.) added an insurance goal with 2:04 to go in the second overtime to give the Sagehens some insurance.

Senior Annie Oxborough-Yankus (Walingford, Conn.) got Pomona-Pitzer started with two goals in the first half, the second of which came from long range to give the Sagehens a 4-3 lead with 4:23 to go in the first half. Freshman Alyssa Woodward (Riverside, Calif.) followed with a goal, and Hopkins scored with four seconds left in the half to stretch the lead to 6-3 going into the break.

Oxborough-Yankus,  and Sarah Westcott (Menlo Park, Calif.) each had two goals for the Sagehens, while Bergemann, Messer, and Morgan McCardell each had two for Cal Lutheran.

Pomona-Pitzer will be back in action next Saturday when it hosts CMS in its regular season home finale at 7 p.m.
