REDLANDS, CA - The Sagehens took on their 6th street rivals, the no. 18 ranked CMS Athenas, in the SCIAC final at the University of Redlands, falling by a final score of 16-7. 

After finishing the regular season as the no. 3 seed in conference, The Sagehens advanced to the final following an epic triple-overtime win over the 2 seed University of Redlands. Against the Stags, the Hens played a solid first half, winning the first draw control and holding CMS to within four goals. Despite a concerted effort, they were not able to make up ground in the second half and the Athenas pulled away with a 16-7 win.

Freshmen Logan Galansky and Jana London contributed three and two goals, respectively, and London added an assist.  Senior Hannah T'Kindt scored one goal. The CMS goalkeeper also added a goal for the Sagehens in the second half to bring the score for Pomona-Pitzer to seven.  On the defensive end, freshman goalkeeper Casey Leek finished up her first season in the cage with an impressive 12 saves. 

This game concluded the Sagehens' 2011 season, the best thus far in Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse history.  Highlights included a winning record (10-8 overall) and SCIAC wins over Whittier, Redlands, and a sweep of Occidental.  Other notable wins included those over Emerson and Sewanee.

This senior would like to thank her Hens for an incredible season and cap to her lacrosse career.  It was an honor being your captain for two years and playing with this team for four years, through its development as a varsity sport and inclusion as a member of SCIAC.  With a solid no. 3 conference seed and a second place tournament finish, this year marked a turning point in the program's history.  I am definitely expecting great things of the Hens in the years to come… and many more storms.  Chirp!
