CLAREMONT, CA- In a highly competitive and energetic game, the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team pulled out a second win against Occidental, 10-7, ending the season with a winning record and the 3rd seed in the SCIAC tournament.
Despite being neck and neck in the first 30 minutes, the Sagehens soared past the Tigers in the second half, leading by a score of 9-5 at one point during the game. Leading the attack in goals was freshman, Logan Galansky, a solid attacker and defender for the Hens. Senior Hannah T'Kindt was the second leading scorer, celebrating her last home game of regular season by scoring three goals. Other scorers included Amelie Von Kennen, Emma Molloy and Jana London, each had one goal. One highlight play for attack included a long assist from Galansky to Molloy in front of Oxy's goal, with Molloy quickly shooting a goal before their defense could react.
The Pomona-Pitzer defense had a strong game, with freshman goalie Casey Leek notching 20 saves, adding to her conference lead in saves per game. Freshman defender Rachel Kessler also had an impressive game, successfully marking her sister, Sarah Kessler, an Occidental attacker. Despite maintaining the lead in the second half, the Tigers continued to play strong throughout, with attacker Tori Larson leading in Oxy's goals. In the end, the Sagehens wrapped up the regular season with a win, earning a victory against Occidental for the second time.
The PP Women's LAX team will play in the semi-final round of the SCIACs against the Redlands Bulldogs on Saturday, April 30th.
