CLAREMONT, CA - The Sagehens honored their three seniors before the start of game one against Cal Lutheran University Saturday. Jamie Goldberg, Ali Corley, and Alexis Garcia have all been four-year starters and key members of the Sagehen squad for the last four years.
Game one would prove to be a pitchers duel between Cal Lu's Allyson Salas and P-P's Carolyn Cross. Cross pitched a complete game, giving up just two runs on four hits. The two runs proved to be enough though as P-P faltered on offense to take the 2-0 lose.
P-P rallied in the third with a single by Garcia and a double by Arianna Roach. Corley walked to load the bases, but P-P could not manage a hit to bring in the run. In the seventh, a Cal Lu double set the stage for Lindsey Novak who homered to give the Regals a 2-0 lead. It was enough and P-P took the 2-0 lose.
