LA VERNE, CA - A clutch three-run homerun by Brianna Marcantoni in the sixth was not enough for the Sagehens as the Leopards rallied in the seventh inning to take the 4-3 win.

La Verne took the lead in the first inning when the first batter of the game drilled a homerun just fair over the left field fence. A string of singles allowed to Leopards to push two more run across and take the 3-0 lead. The Sagehens remained off balance at the plate stringing together only five hits on the day, but a walk and a single gave P-P the momentum they needed in the sixth. With two outs in the sixth Marcantoni drilled a deep fly ball over the center field fence to tie the game up 3-3. P-P pitcher Carolyn Cross allowed just two hits between the second and the seventh, but La Verne took advantage when it counted. In the bottom of the seventh a pair of singles and a P-P error loaded the bases for the Leopards. An infield hit by the next batter was all they needed to take the walk off win, 4-3.
