ORANGE, CA - Carolyn Cross continued her dominance on the mound, giving up six hits and one run as the Sagehens rolled past Chapman University, 4-1 in game one Friday.
The Hens scored in the first inning as Ali Corley drilled a double to center field to score Caitlyn Hynes and give the Sagehens a quick 1-0 lead. Arianna Roach started off a two-out rally for P-P in the third with a single to right field. Corley then singled to move Roach to second. This set the stage for Brianna Marcantoni who smashed a double to right center to bring both runners home. Hynes led off the fifth with a walk and Roach followed with a double to left. Marcantoni then flied out to deep center field to bring Hynes home and give P-P a 4-0 lead. Chapman loaded the bases on two singles and a walk in the bottom of the seventh. A P-P error put a run on the board for the Panthers, but it was too little to late and the Sagehens took the 4-1 win.
