By Jenny Minor

CLAREMONT, CA - The Sagehens, propelled by a strong start, powered past the Poets of Whittier College 11-9.

The second half was a dog-fight until the Hens scored three unanswered goals, gaining a lead they would maintain until the final whistle. Emma Molloy and Hannah T'Kindt rounded out the scoring for Pomona-Pitzer. Leek had an impressive 11 saves in the second half, denying the poets time and again. The Poets staged a furious comeback attempt, drawing as close as 10-9 with less than seven minutes remaining, but it was too late.
