Angie Zhou Moves On To Semifinals After 6-1, 6-1 Win Over Alisha Chulani Of CMS

LAKE NONA, FL. – Angie Zhou advanced to the Semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championships after her 6-1, 6-1 win over Alisha Chulani of CMS in the quarterfinal round on Saturday morning at the USTA National Campus.

Zhou reaches the semifinals for the second time in as many years after she took down Alisha Chulani of CMS 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinal round on Saturday morning.

Zhou and Chulani clashed for the second time this season with Zhou winning the first matchup 6-3, 6-2 during the regular season at Pomona-Pitzer. 

Zhou came out strong against Chulani racking up five games out of the gate against Chulani. The Athena managed to snag a game off Zhou to avoid the set sweep, but Zhou came back with a win to take set one 6-1. 

Chulani and Zhou alternated wins to open the second set, but Zhou got back to her domination during the singles competition and this time ended with five-straight games to earn an impressive 6-1, 6-1 victory. 

Zhou will come back tomorrow and take on Nika Vesely of Wesleyan (CT) at 10:00 a.m.
