LAKE NONA, FL. – The Sagehens opened up the 2023 Singles Championships with Angie Zhou taking a pair of victories over Abby Moghtader of Mary Washington and Shianna Guo of Chicago to advance to the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals at the USTA National Campus. 

Zhou came in as the No. 2 overall seed in the singles bracket and matched up with Abby Moghtader of Mary Washington. Zhou skated through her fit set with a 6-2 win and came back with a 6-3 set two to win in straight sets in her opening match. 

Zhou advanced to the second round where she faced Shianna Guo of Chicago.

Zhou came out strong against Guo as she returned to form with a sharp 6-0 win in set one.  Guo was able to claim the first game of the second set, but Zhou went on to rattle off six-straight games to take set two 6-1 and advance to the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals.
