LA VERNE, Ca. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's track and field team finished in third place at the 2023 Track and Field Championships, earning 109 team points with CMS claiming the title with 173.50 points overall while Redlands took second with 167 points. The Sagehens used a 4 x 400m victory, a third place finish from Ella Bowers in the triple jump and a strong overall team effort to earn the slight edge down the stretch over the Whittier Poets who took fourth with 108 points.
Day Two Results
Pomona-Pitzer started the day with a fourth place finish in the 4 x 100m as Lillie Minskoff, Olivia Reichle, Tene Ariyo, and Katriona Kirkpatrick combined for a time of 48.40 seconds. The Sagehens showed well in the 1500m with Genevieve DiBari taking third place in the event with a time of 4:44.15 while Mira Terdiman and Jenna Lange took sixth and eighth in 4:47.60 and 4:51.42. In the 400m, Olivia Reichle took fifth place after crossing the line in 59.98 seconds. Michaela Jones led the way for the Sagehens in the 800m with a second place finish, running 2:16.72. Rhea Braganza and Thea McAfee took seventh and eighth in 2:26.89 and 2:31.56. Nicole Player took seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.60. In the 200m, Kirkpatrick took fifth with a time of 26.02 seconds. Abigail Loiselle completed the 10k, 5k double, winning the 5k on Day Two with a time of 17:41.49 after winning the 10k yesterday evening. Katie Cline took fifth in the event with a time of 18:22.01 with Genevieve DiBari also finishing in the top eight with a time of 18:25.79. In the 4x400m relay, Kirkpatrick, Reia Li, Jones, and Reichle turned in a 3:55.51 with Reichle erasing Chapman's lead in the final 100m to claim the victory.
Sara Anderson and Zoey Joshlin showed well in the discus with the duo throwing 32.18m and 26.22m. Tene Ariyo earned a second place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.57m. Izzy Sabatino took 14th in the shot put with a throw of 9.64m. The Sagehens earned a crucial six points in the triple jump from Ella Bowers who took third place overall with a jump of 11.14m, beating Whittier's Jenna Parker by nearly a foot, which kept the two team's away from a tie in the team standings.
