RICHARDSON, TX. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team earned a 5-0 win over UT-Dallas in the NCAA Regional Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the UTD Tennis Courts.
The Sagehens started the day with a sweep of the doubles competition to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Maria Lyven and Nina Ye got the wins going at the No. 1 doubles position after their beat their opponents 8-4. Marissa Markey and Angie Zhou followed Lyven and Ye in the win column at the No. 2 spot with an 8-6 win and the Sagehens ended doubles with Georgia Ryan and Janie Marcus edging out an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
After taking a 3-0 lead, the Sagehens needed just two singles wins to clinch the match against the Comets.
Zhou cruised past her opposition at No. 2 doubles without losing a single game with a 6-0, 6-0 win and Marcus ended up with the clinch at No. 4 after she lost just one game during her match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
